Appenzeller Welttournee

The humorous summer spectacle with Martin O. + Appenzeller Echo + Philipp Langenegger
The “Appenzeller World Tour” brings mountains of sounds and humor all over the world – unless Corona happens, then suddenly it was: Arosa instead of Atlanta, St. Moritz instead of St. Petersburg or Lenzerheide instead of Los Angeles. So the “Appenzeller World Tour” took place last summer exclusively in Switzerland.
Because this extraordinary summer spectacle was completely thrilled by its entertaining and surprising variety – everywhere it stopped – Martin O., the Appenzeller Echo and Philipp Langenegger will be traveling the world together again in 2024 for a few selected performances in Switzerland.

"Appenzeller Balkanstubete" Goran Kovačević with the Appenzeller Echo

The Appenzeller Echo – is closely connected with the traditional Appenzeller music, Goran Kovačević – professor for accordion and chamber music, an exceptional artist and transformation artist between styles, epochs and cultures.

Together they ignite a musical fireworks and use the enormous expressive possibilities of the respective folk music, from traditional string music, natural yodel with valley swing, new compositions, folk music from Eastern Europe and various parts of Europe to jazz and free improvisations with room for changes and innovations. This allows them to span a wide musical arc!

In this project, lively and open folk music meets an equally open and curious musician, which with this symbiosis creates an unforgettable experience, full of joie de vivre and exuberance, for intensive listening, diving and exploring.

Appenzellermusik meets Jazz

Peter Lenzin devoted himself to the saxophone at a very early age and plays it with great passion and virtuosity. His music touches the soul, invites contemplation, inspires and relaxes. His artistic work is characterized by versatility in various styles as well as the fusion of classical, jazz and folk music.

With their music, the Appenzeller Echo and Peter Lenzin bring a new sound pleasure to the stage, of tradition, innovation, spontaneity and above all pure joy of playing!

Together the four musicians ignite a musical firework and use the expressive possibilities from different folk music styles to jazz, swing and free improvisations.

Appenzeller Echo plays Celtic music

At each Appenzeller Echo performance, the formation presents typical Appenzeller string music, among other things also with vocals, and in between also plays folk music from other world regions.

At the Irish evening in the guesthouse Bären Schlatt, the Appenzeller Echo performed among others the Irish/American piece “De’il among the Tailors” or “Devil’s Dream”.

On the occasion of the 500 year celebration – of Appenzell joining the Swiss Confederation – the newest project for the Traveling Theatre was formed: Appenzeller music meets Jazz!
Together with the Appenzeller jazz musician Michael Neff (trumpet / flugelhorn) they have developed and presented a versatile program on the Ledi stage, which was very well received by the audience.

Project from 2012: Eidgenössische Balkan Stobete

Under the name “Eidgenössische Balkan Stobete” string music from Appenzell meets traditional music from Eastern Europe.

It was on a Friday night in spring of 2008 when two outfits, the Duša Orchestra and the Appenzeller Echo, met by chance in the Restaurant Schlössli (in Steinegg, Appenzell Innerrhoden), a venue that promotes cultural events. The mutual sympathy and musical curiosity towards the different sounds let the sparks fly immediately and lead to a spontaneous and veritable jam session – or Stobete, as we call it here.

This unforgettable experience slumbered in the heads of the musicians until September 2010, when the opportunity rose to present this new musical encounter as the first “Eidgenössischen Balkan Stobete” at the MoodsClub (Schiffbau) in Zürich.
These musical meetings blossomed into a friendship, that is also reflected in the fun and joy the musicians are having when playing together as a “big band”. Despite the very different musical backgrounds, they managed to create a body of sound that is thoroughly engaging from the very first note on.
